Monster Jam is returning to Vancouver for more rip-roaring fun

Have you ever driven an old clunker that’s crapped out on you one too many times, and you’d just love to see it crushed under the weight of a 12,000 pound monster truck? Here to satisfy your vehicular rage is the return of Monster Jam, a family-friendly event that sees monster trucks rip around in the pit of the Pacific Coliseum in a series of competitions and stunt performances.

The weekend-long event takes place from March 8 to 10, and heralds the introduction of a new monster truck, Monster Mutt Rottweiler. Returning world champion athletes (and their trucks) are Brandon Vinson (Grave Digger), Ashley Sanford (Megalodon), and Tony Ochs (ThunderROARus). There’s also a car called Jurassic Attack that looks pretty fun.

Though it’s satisfying to see old jalopies become compacted into scrap metal underneath half-tonne trucks, the real event is the head-to-head battle for the title of series champion. Drivers show off their skills in freestyle, donuts, and racing—among other tricks—and compete for a spot at the Monster Jam World Finals in LA.

For kids—and let’s face it, adults, too—the pre-show Monster Jam Pit Party is where you can meet the drivers and get a glimpse of their behemoth beasts up close. Plus, there’s a sandbox play area and a temporary tattoo station.

If you haven’t got your tickets yet, we have two questions for you: why not, and will you be rooting for the former champions or the rookies?
