Angus and Julia Stone are headed to Vancouver as they get ready to release their upcoming sixth full-length Cape Forestier. The Australian siblings will play The Centre on June 26, with tickets going on sale at 10am on February 9.

Raised on the beaches of Oz, the brother-and-sister duo didn’t exactly have a meteoric ascent in North America out of the gate. They released their debut album, A Book Like This, in 2007, watching it pile up award nominations at home as it crashed the top 10.

The rest of the world, meanwhile, totally missed out on the magic.

Two years later, A Book Like This finally started to build a small buzz on these shores, the Stones making their local debut in 2009 at the much-missed Richard’s on Richards.

Explaining at that time their approach to not only their career but possibly to life, Julia told the Straight, “We’ve done some work in Europe and Australia, but we’re not very hard workers.”

In the years that have followed, Angus and Julia Stone have morphed from open-mic folk darlings to pop experimentalists to rock warriors. That evolution was on full display by the middle of last decade, when an appearance at the now-defunct Squamish Valley Music Festival showcased a band that sounded like the best parts of Fleetwood Mac, Velvet Underground, and Crazy Horse.

Part of what’s billed as The Living Room Sessions Tour, the Vancouver appearance will span all eras of Angus and Julia Stone, from their roots as an acoustic duo to the Rick Rubin–produced Angus and Julia to Cape Forestier. Expect an evening that promises to be intimate—proof that, yes, sometimes you can go home again.
